On Wednesday 15th March, Team Bath’s Netball Captain & Mintridge ambassador Eboni Beckford – Chambers visited Millfield Prep School for a morning full of netball coaching and presentations.
Upon arrival, Eboni headed straight to the sports hall to be greeted by some excited U11 students. Eboni delivered a skills session with the girls, particularly focussing on individual skills before moving onto more contextual games. The girls thoroughly enjoyed it before a photo opportunity with our netball superstar and some highly sought after autographs!
Eboni worked with the U12 and U10 girls separately in the assembly hall as part of their PSHE. Eboni gave a detailed account of her journey to wearing the “Red Dress” and stressed that it was not an easy and direct route to the top with setbacks such as not being selected and injury throughout her career. She has however learnt from these experiences and overcoming these challenges has made her much more resilient through the way in which she approaches all that she does. Eboni also shared the positive female role models in her life such as her mum and Serena Williams which struck a chord with a lot of the girls.
The Year 8 National Champions grabbed their opportunity to see Eboni in their break time for a short Q&A and some photo opportunities. It’s safe to say that there are some posers amongst this bunch! They shared their fairy tale ending to the National Finals last week which wowed Eboni!
Before Eboni left, the staff were able to work with her on a coaching inset focussing on set play, particularly back line and centre passes giving the netball coaches some more ideas for session plans heading into the final two weeks of the term.
Thank you very much to Millfield Prep for your hospitality throughout the morning, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit
