On Thursday 30th June, Henni Zuël and the Mintridge team headed to Manor School in Raunds to deliver a key note speech to the KS2 students at their end of term Achievements Awards Ceremony.
Despite the M1 trying to delay Henni’s arrival, she soon arrived and headed straight to the School Hall to listen to the school Principal, Mrs Brooks’ introduction to students and parents.
“Be authentic to yourself and enjoy the journey.”
Henni was shortly on stage to deliver a heartfelt message on what her sporting journey has taught her with a particular focus on aspirations and achievements. “Be authentic to yourself and enjoy the journey” was a strong message that Henni wished to convey to the Year 7 – Year 9 students who listened intently.
Following Henni’s speech, it was time for the awards ceremony, where Henni admitted she felt extremely inspired by the achievements of the Manor students. Henni and the school staff presented certificates, medals and trophies to pupils for academic success, attendance and endeavour. It truly was an inspiring evening. The KS2 students were keen to get a photograph with the star as well as autographs which ended the first part of Mintridge’s evening!
Waiting outside the hall were two Year 11 golfers; Callum and James. The boys had been called into school with their parents but they hadn’t yet been told why…they were about to get a little surprise! As they sat down with their parents, Henni explained that they would be receiving a six month remote mentoring programme with her. This shocked the boys a little and they were soon thinking of questions that could be asked. Callum and James will gain email and skype access to Henni (safeguarding policies in place) so that she can support them on their golfing journey. The boys, parents and staff will be joining Henni during her journalism commitments at the Grove Golf Club in October for the British Masters.
Here’s to a very exciting few months ahead!
Thank you to all the staff at Manor for your hospitality throughout the evening and Henni is looking forward to working with you over the next six months for the Mintridge Mentoring programme. A particular thank you to Manor’s outgoing Head Boy & Head Girl for presenting Henni with such beautiful flowers!
Thank you also to the Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership for your support in the lead up to this event.
