Mintridge Bronze Pre-Season Netball Programme with Jess Shaw, Bishop’s Stortford College, January 2019

It was a lovely introduction to the New Year for Team Mintridge on one of our first programmes of 2019, which took place at Bishop’s Stortford College. It was a jam-packed afternoon of pre-season netball training with Loughborough Lightning’s centre court player Jess Shaw.

The seniors started the afternoon with a variety of ball handling and movement related drills, that Jess then progressed into more difficult game-based situations. The seniors worked hard to take on board the top tips from our very experienced netball Ambassador. As the afternoon progressed Jess ensured the players had every chance to show off what they had learnt earlier, when performing the transition from half court into the circle. It was great to see the players keeping up the intensity, even when put under pressure by the defence.

As the first session drew to a close, Jess handed out awards for the ladies that had applied themselves fully to the training and kept persevering with the new drills and challenges. It was also a great opportunity for the players to write down any questions or aspirations for the Mintridge golden post box.

Some of the best questions were:

How many times a week do you train?

How much Strength and Conditioning training do you do?

Before we said goodbye to the seniors, they had the chance to take photographs with Jess as a group and individually, with the twitter frame and props. The ladies also received an autograph card to take away with them.

As an introduction to the new netball season, the Bishop’s Stortford College staff were welcomed to the sports hall for an afternoon of top tips and netball drills, that they could learn and use throughout the current season. It was a fantastic opportunity for the staff to get involved in the training session, as well as learn some new netball related drills to enhance their own teams and players. It was a session enjoyed by all. We are pleased that the staff had the chance to clarify certain techniques and skills with Jess.

Thank you to the Bishop’s Stortford College seniors and staff for inviting Team Mintridge and Jess to be a part of your pre-season training day. We look forward to seeing you again at the end of January.

If you would like to see any of the photos and videos from the day, please contact the Bishop’s Stortford College staff.

Thanks

Team Mintridge
