Is there a better way for Ingham Primary School to kickstart their annual Sports Week than with the one and only GB Climber and Mintridge Ambassador, Molly Thompson – Smith? We don’t think so… And that is exactly why we did it! On Monday 24th June, Molly and the Mintridge team made their way to Ingham Primary School in Lincolnshire where Mintridge have led several programmes over the past 4 years.
Every Ingham pupil had the opportunity to work with Molly throughout the day as there was a special treat in store. The car park was taken over by a brilliant 8m Climbing Wall so that Molly was able to show everyone the ropes (quite literally) and have a go at the sport that she loves so much!
Molly’s passion was definitely rubbing off on everyone around her as beaming smiles all around. Confidence grew within each group and more students were reaching the top of the wall with Molly’s expert guidance; “RING THAT BELL” echoed around the playing fields!
Each class ended the session with photos, and everyone was able to take a signed autograph home with them to treasure such amazing memories from the day.
Between the coaching sessions, students and staff gathered in the hall. Molly spoke about where her “love affair” with climbing began, resilience that she has had to show through injury as well as her passions outside of sport. We think that everyone approved of Molly’s love of baking judging by the cheers! As Molly’s story of her elite journey drew to a close, the floor was open for questions which included:
“How old were you when you started climbing?”
“How are you funded?”
“What do you love most about climbing?”
…And many more!
What a brilliant day introducing a new sport to the Mintridge family!

Thank you very much to the Ingham staff and students for making us feel so very welcome as ever! We are already looking forward to working with you again!
