The Summer School Games was another one to remember for Team Mintridge and Jamie Cachia, as we visited the event for a day of fun, celebration, cheer and inspirational messages for all of the schools taking part in the day.
The morning began with an incredible opening ceremony to open the Summer School Games. There were some excellent events set up to open the ceremony including dancers from one of the competition schools and a choir from a local primary school. Jamie followed these fantastic performances with his opening address, where he talked briefly about his sporting journey and the spirit of the games.
It was certainly a day full of fun and enjoyment as Jamie walked around the events to support and give words of encouragement to those taking part. It was extremely difficult to pull Jamie away from the Hockey pitches where he was showing the students a few of his hockey tricks, in an attempt to be called up to the squad for the day. It was so good to see all of the sports taking place at the Summer School Games and Jamie made sure he paid a visit to all of the teams and had a chance to chat and take photographs with the students in between their events.
In a day designed to celebrate the spirit of the games, determination, honesty, passion, respect, self-belief, and teamwork, it was an honour for Jamie to award and present the cups and medals to the winners of each of the competitions and give his congratulations to all of the competitors and their efforts.
