Today, Tuesday 3rd December is known across the globe as Giving Tuesday and that is why we thought that there is no better way to launch our partnership with the brilliant team at Moodbeam.
We can’t wait to get more of this incredible product onto the arms of people across the country to help everyone to recognise how they feel through a wearable device at the push of a button.
Read on to find out more, but when you order, don’t forget to enter the code: FIVEMINT5. This will give you a 5% discount as well as 5% being donated to the Mintridge Foundation to help raise valuable funds so that we can reach further young people across the country.
Moodbeam came about through a personal need.
A busy mum wanted to find a way of being able to
see how her young daughter was feeling when she
wasn’t with her.
After partnering with a friend who was already a
successful innovator, Moodbeam’s potential began
to escalate, quickly finding itself visualised as an
added metric within child and adult mental health,
social care, education, workplace wellbeing,
personal development and as an aid to self
awareness, deeper conversations and meaningful
communication.
Never really knowing where it would take them,
Jonathan and Christina went on a journey of
discovery. The first ones to admit that they’ve
never had a definite business plan, the one thing
they’ve always been determined to do is change
lives for the better.
Something that started as a useful tool in a
parental setting has gone on to become the
world’s first wearable device, capable of logging
and visualising moods and helping those who want
to see how they, or a loved one, feel when they’re
not with them.
Moodbeam allows its user to log, track and
visualise their mood thanks to its innovative
hardware device and bespoke application-driven
analytics platform. Once the user has pressed the
‘positive or ‘negative’ button their mood is logged,
time stamped and is stored locally until it comes in
close proximity to a paired, trusted device where it
automatically downloads.
That information is stored safely in the cloud,
allowing the user, or in the case of a much younger
person, older person or cared for individual, their
guardian to see the highs and lows of their day.
Up until now there has been no recognised metric
for happiness and wellbeing. Certainly nothing
exists that can capture moods instantly and
accurately to visualise mental health.
Two years of successful prototype trials within both
personal and professional settings produced such
rich insights and compelling feedback, to the
extent that the company received £200,000 in
health tech funding in June 2018, to bring the
product to market.
That product, in the form of a wearable two button
band, Moodbeam One has just launched onto the
market with 25% of its first batch of wearables
already sold.
Moodbeam One and its companion app has been
hailed as an honest conversation starter. Anyone
who’s ever been feeling low or despairing will
relate to the inability to communicate either face to
face or even remotely by text or email. Being able
to log how we feel, and if we want to, share that
information whether it be with a trusted friend,
family member or therapist means we eliminate
the need to look someone in the eye and honestly
say how we truly feel.
It’s not just for the treatment of existing conditions
though, but is now cited as an early intervention
tool to promote positive self awareness, confirming
and evidencing the highs in the user’s day, giving
them more self understanding. Some have hailed it
as “Mindfulness in Practice,” others as “the chance
to own your mood and self triage those triggers in
your own time through journal entries in the app”.
To give some examples, Moodbeam has been
used by people with anxiety and body image
disorders, depression, autism, cancer patients,
managing directors, the visually impaired, people
with sleep disorders, yogis, mindfulness coaches,
nutritionists, those with eating disorders, clinical
psychologists, hypnotherapists and EFT, personal
development and employee engagement trainers,
not to mention anxious parents, husbands and
wives.
Bringing things right up to date, 2019 has seen a
real dawn of understanding why it is so important
to address and support wellbeing and preventative
mental health.
Workplace wellbeing has now become a hot topic
of debate within the mental health arena. Many of
the companies Moodbeam has partnered with, or
been supported by, to champion better approaches
to achieving a happier work/life balance genuinely
want to help change the lives of those they work
with on a daily basis.
When you look at the following statistics, the
gravity and urgency of the situation becomes all
too apparent.
• Mental ill health is the largest cause of burden of
disease in the UK
• The economic costs of mental health issues in
England have been estimated at £105 billion
each year
• In an average classroom, ten children will have
witnessed their parents separate, eight will have
experienced severe physical violence, sexual
abuse or neglect, one will have experienced the
death of a parent and seven will have been
bullied
• Half of mental ill health starts by age 15 and 75%
develops by age 18

evaluation/ mental-health-statistics/ )
These figures relate to mothers, fathers,
daughters, sons and they it’s within all our
interests to start chipping away at what might be.
By supporting companies like Moodbeam, you are
helping the start up’s mission. Which is to change
lives for the better through the use of moodlogging
technology.
The Mintridge Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to enhancing life skills in young people through sport. We provide a support network for young people by harnessing the power of positive sporting role models. The Mintridge Foundation assists young people of all ages, abilities and physical capabilities to develop confidence and resilience, and creates awareness of the importance of mental and physical wellbeing through sport.
Our team of Ambassadors – Olympians, Paralympians and other professional sports stars from over 20 sports, both team and individual – work with young people in schools, clubs and academies across the UK. Starting with visits including assemblies, coaching clinics and classroom sessions tailored to each organisation’s requirements, our ambassadors can then provide one- on- one remote mentoring in a safeguarded environment, delivered via technology such as Skype and Playwaze to build a lasting legacy for individuals.
The Mintridge Foundation’s successes demonstrate the incredible power of sport; from a mentee’s selection to represent Great Britain in their chosen field to enabling disabled children to find confidence and happiness just through participation. Understanding life after sport, we also support our Ambassadors in their transition from active sport to the next stage of their careers.
