Through the Mintridge Foundation, we can support athletes in their transition phase from the field of play while feeding back their important messages into schools.

 AMBASSADOR CPD PROGRAMME 2024

We are back, and our Ambassador CPD Day is bigger and better than ever and as part of our commitment to support our incredible Sports Stars, we would love for YOU to join us on Wednesday 11th December 2024 at Prince William School in Northamptonshire and afterwards at Oundle Golf Club.

There are dual and reciprocal objectives from our day:

1) Increased skill sets for Mintridge Ambassadors through Professional Development and Peer – Peer Support.

2) Increased positive relationships with sport for young people and their families through aspirational encounters.

The day is kindly being funded by The Jacobs Futura Foundation, a dynamic philanthropic organisation dedicated to creating lasting, positive change in their chosen areas of focus: protecting rainforests & supporting athletes.

Athletes dedicate their lives to their sport, and in doing so inspire millions. Yet the vast majority face significant challenges when they exit from sport. Jacobs Futura Foundation will enhance the support available to athletes during this transition and develop new ideas that can lead to lasting change - this is why they have chosen to support the Mintridge Foundation for our Ambassador CPD. They are a Philanthropic Foundation Aiming for Lasting Impact.

So, here is the plan…

*Please note that the timings are subject to change.

For those that have joined us in previous years will know the strong partnership that we have with the Switch the Play Foundation. Switch the Play will support our delivery of the day.

The Switch the Play Foundation is the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting all sportspeople to successfully transition into life outside of sport. Their selection of masterclasses are designed to prepare sportspeople for their life outside of sport. All the classes combine practical and academic learning and the format and will be tailored to meet the needs of the Mintridge Foundation Athletes. Switch the Play will also offer support to you months after the day which is great!

The East Midlands Academy Trust family of schools supports more than 5,000 pupils and employs over 600 staff across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes.

We are so excited that the support from the Jacobs Futura Foundation will allow students to also be part of the day. Students will be from our host school, Prince William School as well as Northampton International Academy - another school within the Multi Academy Trust. They will be able to hear athlete stories in the panel session and 10 students from across the trust to benefit from the 1-1 6 month mentoring programme of our athletes.

The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust puts world class athletes shoulder to shoulder with young people and as part of the fantastic consortium with the Jacobs Futura Foundation, we are excited to work alongside this brilliant organisation. The team from the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust will be with us on the day to share more about their fantastic work and if their work is of interest to you, we hope that this will build increased opportunities for you and your incredible transferable skills.

Since 2015, we have learnt that our CPD days turn into a competitive affair! Athletes want to try new activities as well as learning about fellow athletes, be competitive and incorporate fun into the process too. This is why we have ensured that a Wheelchair Basketball Session is incorporated into the day which we hope all of the athletes will love!

We want to ensure that everyone has enjoyable day with the wider Mintridge Foundation family too. We have included dinner with Mintridge guests in the evening at Oundle Golf Club - we will share our impact report from 2024, announce or annual award winners as well as showcasing another panel session too.

CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING

Everyone here at the Mintridge Foundation has a responsibility for child protection.

You should have received a welcome email from Educare that will give you access to our Online Training for you as part of the Mintridge Foundation team.

This might have gone into your junk folder.

Please let Alex Wallace know if this hasn’t taken place and we will look into this for you.

We require you to complete Child Protection in Sport and Active Leisure whether or not you can attend our CPD day or not. This is to be updated annually. Please feel free to complete any of the other courses available in the Mintridge Foundation package to support your CPD.

Child Protection in Sport and Active Leisure must be completed by Sunday 3rd November 2024 or by the time of your next Mintridge Foundation Programme. This doesn’t have to be completed in one go and you can go back and forth to it to suit your schedule.

Please contact Alex Wallace if this is going to be a problem with your schedule.

The video opposite is available for your viewing pleasure as a User Guide and how to access the courses.

What do we need to know?

Do you have any questions? Please contact Alex Wallace on Phone / Email / WhatsApp and she will be able to help! Finer details will be sent over the next few months.
