THE LEGACY AWARD

The Legacy Award has been created in special recognition of flourishing mentoring partnerships that emphasises the deep power and impact that sport has on us all far beyond the final whistle.

2022 - Katie Richards

“Mintridge mentoring was the making of my daughter!”

It has been a privilege to witness the impact that the Mintridge mentoring programme has had on both Pamela Cookey and Katie, proving that both parties (mentor and mentee) leave feeling enriched and inspired.

We couldn’t think of a greater advocate than Katie for why we do what we do!

It has been a privilege for the Mintridge team to witness the impact that mentoring has had. This particular six-month programme took place in 2017.

One year on, our winner’s mother shared:

“Following my daughter’s mentoring, she has joined two netball clubs. One is a lovely low key one but my daughter wanted to compete more, so she has joined MK Netters and is loving matches on a Sunday. None of this would have been possible if Pamela hadn’t noticed Katie’s potential and given her the confidence to do this.”

Two years on, our winner’s mother shared:

“My daughter was selected to train with the North Bucks County team. She has fought to get on the England Netball Pathway having been turned by Northamptonshire. I can’t believe how hard she has worked to get there. This success is all down to what Pamela’s mentoring did. My daughter was very shy but the calls with Pamela really motivated her and gave her the confidence to aim high.”

Three years on, our winner was selected for the MK Southern Regional u16’s and our winner’s family put the success down to Pamela’s mentoring.

“You will honestly never know how it has motivated her and helped her to get her to where she is now!”

Our winner has gone on to have an incredibly turbulent battle with illness, often using netball as her escape and to keep her going despite the challenges.

She is quite simply one of the strongest people that we know.

…And her mum makes the best lemon drizzle around!
