28 HOURS OF NON STOP FUNDRAISING - THE MAX HUNTER FUND
As with so many 2020 events, Covid – 19 made us wait to celebrate our #28NotOut event in its original format.
The global pandemic has shed a light on how the objectives of #28NOTOUT and the Max Hunter Fund are now more prevalent than ever; using the power of sport and activity to help both our physical and mental health is of the highest importance. That is why we were determined to continue with #28NOTOUT in the safest possible way while celebrating the life of our much loved friend Max Hunter who died by suicide in August 2019.
“I really appreciate all that Mintridge has done for me, I truly wouldn’t have thought I would ever have the chance to get an amazing experience like this…It’s been an incredible programme and will definitely benefit so many other people.”
Asma Elbadawi is an ambassador for The Mintridge Foundation, a charity dedicated to enhancing life skills in young people through sport. As part of her work with the charity she openly discusses her own story and the positive benefits sport can have on overall wellbeing.
It is safe to say that school sport in 2020 has looked a little different to that of any other before, but we here at Mintridge have been determined that everyone being at home won’t stop us harnessing the power of sporting role models to promote physical and mental wellbeing in young people.
The Youth Sport Trust and Sky Sports team have united the country through sport with National School Sport Week at Home between 20th and 26th June and together with Squadkit, we have joined the nation!
A special Mintridge programme drew to a close last week and we wanted to share a little more about it with our community; it certainly brought weekly smiles during a tough few months.
We are really excited as we have recently partnered with EasyFundraising to help support mentees (past and present) to help generate funds towards their sporting journeys which we know is very tough. Whether you are a mentee and you need to fund your training equipment, travel expenses or a coaching qualification or a parent of a young person, your options to get funds can be complicated.

This week we are focusing on two inspiring sportsmen, both of whom have shown incredible resilience and hard work to get where they are today. They also both love sharing their experiences to the next generations.

These two ladies are such vocal and passionate ambassadors, helping us to spread the Mintridge message! Eboni made her England Netball debut in 2008 at the age of 20 against Malawi and has gone on to win a gold medal for England with the England Netball team. Olivia gained her first international cap for Scotland in 2011 against Japan and has an incredible 76 caps to her name. Both are incredibly inspiring Mintridge ambassadors!
The Mintridge Foundation hope that you are all safe and well during this very uncertain time, and we hope that we have a little bit of good news that will help cheer you up…

Continuing our spotlight on our ambassadors, this week we’re homing in on two more inspiring women.
Shona McCallin is probably most well known for being one the Great Britain Hockey team who won Britain’s first ever Olympic Gold Medal for Hockey at the Rio Olympics and Nekoda Smythe-Davis looks to be a genuine medal hope for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Our ambassadors are the perfect people to look towards for some inspiration right now. Most of them have faced what seems like an impossible dream but have put in the work and effort to make it a reality… often with a few bumps along the way.
Meet Asma Elbadawi and Evie Toombes, incredible sports people and fantastic ambassadors for ‘sport for all’.
At the end of last week, we launched our #771 challenge. 7 friends, 7 days, one marathon. As you will be aware, many funding events have been cancelled and so many of our community fundraisers have been unable to complete their 5ks half marathons and marathons to raise money to allow us to continue supporting young people through sport. 771 was an opportunity for them to put their training to use and for you to get involved and raise some money too.
We couldn’t have ever imagined what a positive event it would become, all thanks to you guys.
A little (ok, pretty big) Mintridge #winoftheweek is thanks to two of our amazing community fundraisers. They weren’t going to let a little thing like a worldwide pandemic get in the way of all their training and they certainly didn’t want to let everyone who sponsored them down.
The Sunday Times first learnt of The Mintridge Foundation when our founder, Alex Wallace (nee Paske) was awarded the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year - Grassroots award. This was a huge moment for Alex personally (for whom The Mintridge Foundation and the work they do is a passion) and a small charity such as The Mintridge Foundation. Little did she know at the time that this award would lead onto such an incredible partnership.
