A Fantastic Year Supporting Tormead School’s Sports Scholars Programme

A Fantastic Year Supporting Tormead School’s Sports Scholars Programme:

Over the course of this academic year, The Mintridge Foundation has been proud to partner with Tormead School to support their Sports Scholars and Talented Performers Programme through a series of inspiring ambassador-led sessions.

Throughout the year, scholars had the opportunity to hear from elite athletes and professionals across a range of important topics designed to support both sporting performance and personal development.

Inspirational Ambassador Sessions:

The programme began in October with Liz Cann delivering a session focused on goal setting. Scholars explored the importance of setting achievable targets, maintaining motivation and building positive habits to help them succeed both in sport and academically.

In November, former England Netball captain and current president of England Netball, Eboni Usoro-Brown led a fantastic session on leadership. Eboni shared insights from her experiences competing at the highest level and discussed the qualities that make a strong leader both on and off the court.

In March, Olympian Abigail Irozuru OLY delivered a session centred around psychology and mindset. Scholars learned about resilience, confidence and the mental skills needed to perform under pressure and overcome challenges.

Most recently, Hannah Diamond visited the school to deliver a session exploring physiology, helping students better understand the connection between physical preparation, mindset and performance.

Developing Future Talent:

It has been amazing for the scholars to receive these hour-long talks across such a wide variety of topics. Each session provided valuable insight into elite sport while also giving students practical tools they can apply in everyday life, whether in training, competition or the classroom.

The students showed fantastic engagement throughout the programme, asking thoughtful questions and embracing the opportunity to learn from high-level athletes and professionals with real-world experience.

A Huge Thank You:

A huge thank you to Tormead School for partnering with The Mintridge Foundation and for their continued commitment to supporting and developing young talent. We would also like to thank Liz Cann, Eboni Usoro-Brown, Abigail Irozuru OLY and Hannah Diamond for sharing their time, experiences and expertise throughout the programme.
