Inspiring Young Minds: A Day with Hannah Beharry at East Hunsbury Primary School
On a very energetic day at East Hunsbury Primary School, The Mintridge Foundation had the pleasure of bringing boxer Hannah Beharry to inspire, motivate, and empower pupils through the power of sport and storytelling.
From the moment Hannah walked through the doors, she radiated warmth and energy that captured the attention of every student. Her message was clear: resilience, self-belief, and hard work can open doors both in sport and in life.
The day began with an inspirational assembly to the whole school where Hannah shared her personal journey about the challenges she had faced and the determination it had taken to overcome them. Hannah introduced some year groups to the fundamentals of boxing. From learning footwork drills to trying their hand at basic combinations, the children were encouraged to have fun, try something new, and step outside their comfort zones. The school hall quickly filled with laughter, determination, and the buzz of young athletes eager to test their skills.
At The Mintridge Foundation, we believe in the transformative power of role models like Hannah. Seeing a professional athlete so openly share her experiences gives young people the courage to believe that they, too, can achieve great things.
A huge thank you to East Hunsbury Primary School for welcoming us so warmly, and to Hannah Beharry for giving her time, energy, and passion to inspire the next generation
We can’t wait to return and see you all again soon!
