Paralympic Star, Tania Nadarajah PLY Joins Team Mintridge at the East Midlands Academy Trust Ability Games 2025
National School Sports Week (NSSW) returned from 16–22 June 2025, with thousands of schools across the UK uniting behind the theme “Always Active” with the Youth Sports Trust. This theme was definitely seen when the Mintridge Foundation returned to the East Midlands Academy Trust Ability Games for the third year in a row . The Ability Games is a special event for their pupils with additional physical or communication needs. It took place at Castle Academy on Wednesday 18th June with Mintridge Ambassador, Tania Nadarajah PLY (Archery).
Tania is a brilliant para-archer who represented ParalympicsGB at Rio 2016. With the sun again shining, Tania gave a short introduction to herself explaining how a serious accident had left her disabled, which is the reason that she took up archery. We loved that Tania’s address was briefly interrupted from a student applauding her to say how inspirational she was! Tania stressed the importance of taking part and giving everything a go - following the “Always Active” theme!
The children from the Trust schools soon took up their spots on the various sporting activities enabling them to try their hand at a number of different events (including Boccia, Curling and Tennis). Tania spent her time on the archery station, supporting and encouraging the children to take part with her incredible insight.
At the end of the day as the temperature soared, the children were all awarded a Participation Medal and they all left with big smiles on their faces. Tania definitely created fantastic memories for everyone involved.
